Episode 27: Halloween Enormous Stories throwback magazine cover image horror creepy pastas

Episode 27 Teaser: mega episode coming Monday to usher in Halloween.
My friends and I are bringing you a group episode full of urban legends, true ghost stories, creepy pastas, and perhaps even the creepiest of true crime stories. If you are a podcast fan, I guarantee you listen to several of the participants. If not, you are going to meet some new favorites. Here’s the cover art as a tease.

Patrons of any level can hear my segment only as a sneak peek now:

Episode 19 Teaser

Lovelies, I am sorry, but I am not going to be recording and publishing until tomorrow. I almost had a syncope (POTS fainting) episode today–luckily thwarted by last week’s ER doc’s medical advice, but even “almost” tears my body up.

But it’s going to be a good one, and since I am late, I will go ahead and spill:

It’s all about the eclipse, folklore about eclipses, and all tied into The Eclipse: The King Eclipse that empowered and psychically connected Jessie Burlingame (Gerald’s Game) and Dolores Clairborne.

To get you excited and tide you over, here’s the trailer for the amazing adaption of Dolores Claiborne, starring my friend in my head Kathy Bates and Jennifer Jason Leigh. Enjoy, and I will see you tomorrow.

So Many Books: You Were Forewarned

bookshelf theme picture
Yes, this is one of my plethora of bookshelves. These are just over my left shoulder as I sit at my antique secretary, at my computer.

Books are my friends and my passion. I love words. I cannot emphasize that enough. When I’m not reading…I’m growing my TBR list (to be read) with one eye always hunting. Hunter-gatherer over here. I say I am a bookdragon–a bookworm is just the pupal stage of a dragon. The key is fireproof books, y’all. Asbestos knitted cover to my Kindle. Always working it out, always working it out.

So, not only will I be linking the books mentioned in each episode in its site entry, as I did in episode 1
and if you buy them, or click through to buy something else at Amazon, you’re keeping the lights on, and making me feel loved and listened to, thank you–
but I have also constructed a There Might Be Cupcakes bookshelf for my Goodreads account.

To it I’m adding not only the book directly mentioned and recommended, but also books on any topic mentioned, or any rabbit hole explored in episode or on site. For example, for episode 1, there is one good book choice for each president seated during the Poes’ lifetimes, and for the two wars as well, and one explaining the history of presidential inauguration. There’s also a book I am quite looking forward to reading on Poe’s Richmond (Raven in the River City, by Christopher P. Semtner).

You can interact with the bookshelf on Goodreads, or keep up with it via feed. On site, it’s up to you: list format, or pretty covers arrangement.
One benefit: it allows you to be nosy and see which ones I’ve read or am reading. Hey, I’m nosy, I admit it. Hence this podcast. There’s a reason one of my literary heroes is Harriet the Spy.

There Might Be Cupcakes: Reason No. 4

View this post on Instagram

Think about it: granola bar, kale smoothie…even your favorite Starbucks blend in one hand–You could be driving to your attorney's office or working on a group project that suddenly doesn't seem so group-y. But a cupcake? Doesn't matter if it's the boss' surprise birthday party that he threw for himself and made mandatory, or that cookie-sale-launch meeting for your daughter's Girl Scout troop, whatever you might hold in your other hand looks brighter and shinier. And let's face it–usually a box of cupcakes means Girls' Night In, which means 🍷, or you are throwing yourself and whomever you choose (even if that's nobody else) a Netflix and chill 🎥, which means comfort food and/or recreational marijuana for you lucky few (hurry up, VA)…if you are upset eating a cupcake, and have nothing awesome in the other hand…Back slowly out of the room without breaking eye contact, then run. They're pod people. We're here for you.
