Website update and Intentional Ink

Cool website things and five-star reads
I've created a front door for the website, of sorts, thanks to a service with the cute name of omg.lol. It serves as both a front door and a digital business card. You can find it at carlapettigrew.com. You can also see it at the top of theremightbecupcakes.com; I've pulled in my latest micro blog via Javascript. You can see them all, should you desire, at @carla’s statuslog. I'll keep it updated as a microblog, and I'll keep the now page updated as well. So you can go there to see what I am currently reading, watching, and making, including this luscious cross-stitch pattern depicting Mary Shelley and her flaming heart. Picture at the end of this post/email.
I love it! It's all so tidy, and the @carla now page inspired me to list all my five-star reads for this year so far, organized by subject. I'll keep this list updated. It's been quite a good year; I've been selective with my reads.
The front page, aka carla.omg.lol or carlapettigrew.com is also a place to organize all my links, cleaning up the footer of the podcast's site, and making them easier to see and follow. Tidiness! Lists!
Intentional Ink update
One, it's so pretty thanks to mods. And two, the Intentional Ink group is finally getting some writing work done.
I have to design my environment before I can settle in. It matters that I am using my favorite coffee cup when I write; the proper aesthetic sets the mood. So of course I want the roommates' neighborhood, Brindleton Bay, to be as lovely as possible. First: map replacement. People who play the Sims fall into two camps when it comes to design: Maxis Match or alpha. Maxis Match refers to mods and custom content that matches the original game's content as closely as possible. Alpha refers to more realistic mods and cc; I'm team alpha. I love how detailed alpha developers can get, especially with hair.
These map replacements I've linked flip the fly-over maps from Maxis Match to a lush alpha. I was so impressed with the Brindleton Bay Map Replacement, in that it retained my modified lots. The Intentional Ink home, the library, and the knitting store (more about that in a moment) are visible as is through all the changes.
Cavalier's Cove is the roommates' neighborhood; the green plumbob marks their house, and to the left is the historic library I placed and modded.

The knitting store, that I got from the gallery then redesigned, is the small, cute shop to the right of the port; look for the round outdoor tables. I'll give a proper tour in a separate post, perhaps a video, because it deserves it.
Isn't that lush? But wait, there's more.
There's an odd issue with the dogwood trees in Brindleton Bay, in that sometimes they appear an odd shade of neon green. Fixed that thanks to softerhaze on Tumblr.
Now, the actual play.
I learned quite quickly that the other nonplayed roommates could not be trusted with freelance writing. If I assigned Freelance Writer as a career to any of them, they wouldn't work. Lots of sleeping and eating went on. But if I assigned office-based writing jobs to the roommates, they will get up and work and achieve autonomously. Get that writing done, you beautiful summer children.
Clara, my SimSelf, has gained several traits through her activities, including "Literary Podcaster". I kid you not. Sometimes this game can be eerie. She also got typed as my Myers-Briggs type. Curiouser and curiouser.

Genesis has been typed as Advocate INFJ as well, and Lila as the Logician INTP. I need to have the guys explore their types.

As far as their careers...so far so good. Genesis is doing extremely well, with her first book already published. Clara is right behind her; her first book has just been accepted for publication, and she has a byline on an international article.

Yes, please.
Ethan is struggling. I had to briefly play in his place because I noticed he kept crying and sleeping. After some therapy and psychiatric treatment, he was diagnosed with dyslexia, and given support. Now that he understands his own needs, he is much happier and more confident. He's learning to cross-stitch--all of the roommates are just wild about cross-stitching, which makes for the cutest scenes of their stitching and chatting. I'll have to share videos and/or photos. It's too cozy. Going to give them more cross-stitch patterns.

If you are playing The Sims, let me know what scenario you are playing, and about your favorite modders and locations. I'm really finding it to be a helpful tool to fuel my own writing as I play with my SimSelf writer and her writer roommates.
And, oh--here's that Mary Shelley cross-stitch, to reward you for making it this far. I'm finishing up the fourth page of the pattern.

Yes, my needle parker is a Nancy Drew novel.
